MCP ROUND 6:RAMDAN CROWNED ZIC SS600 CHAMPION

Mohd Ramdan Rosli could not ask for a better boost to his racing career as the youngster was crowned Supersports 600cc overall champion in the ZIC Superbike Series in Zhuhai, China yesterday.

Held at the Zhuhai International Circuit, Ramdan became the first Malaysian to lift the title having moved out to an unassailable 145 points lead with a double victory on board his Yamaha YZF R6 machine.

The Team PETRONAS AHM Malaysia rider completed Race 1 within 16’56.285s before sealing the crown in Race 2 with 17’00.241s.

Only local racer, Hu Zhao Neng could have stopped Ramdan in the standings prior to yesterday’s race but his second-placed finish in both outing was not enough and was forced to settle as runner-up in the Supersports 600cc class with 118 points.

“It was a great weekend for the team. At first we joined this series in search of experience and knowledge racing on board 600cc bikes so we can improve our performance in the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship. Little did we expect the title would be ours,” said an elated Ramdan.

At the same time Ramdan’s recent success boosts his confidence for the second half of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship which kicks off at Stadium Kluang in Johor this weekend.

Currently the 17-year old leads the premier CP130 title chase with 75 points having finished four out of five previous races on the podium while Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi (Givi Honda Yuzy Pachie) and Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (Faito Yamaha Motobert) trails closely with 73 points each.

“I look forward to racing CP130 machines this weekend. I am extremely motivated and driven having won the ZIC Superbike title and I hope I can deliver the same performance in Cub Prix,” he said.
